Back to School Makeup Tutorial … NOT!!

I was browsing youtube and came across this channel MadeYewLook … OMG … the makeup artist is amazing … she makes some amazing looks for HALLOWEEN … yep!

When I saw the title of this video I was like … no way she did something that “ordinary” … I was wrong!!!

She looks creepy … very very creepy, in my humble opinion …

Anyway … if you’re already preparing for October 31 … check this out.

We’re back!!!

YES! We are back!!!

Where we gone? Well … yes … sort of …

I (Mags) got pregnant and got a new job, so I was pretty busy between preparing classes (I’m a teacher at the local university) and puking my guts out!!! My baby boy is born now, still have a job, but things are less busy, if that makes any sense, with the baby and all …

Irais is so smart, she got new projects at work and … well, she’s been very very busy.

But now we’re back, and expect to see new posts, there are some amazing books we’ll review soon.

When sheltered American good girl Allyson “LuLu” Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. After just one day together, that spark bursts into a flame, or so it seems to Allyson, until the following morning, when she wakes up after a whirlwind day in Paris to discover that Willem has left. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

Allyson, an american, was on a trip in Europe, a handsome dutch guy, Willem, handed her a flyer on the street and invited her to his show, a Shakespeare play, she goes with her friend to see the show and BAM!! Eye contact!!! The next day she casually (by fate, destiny or accident) encounters Willem on a train, they talk and flirt a bit, he invites her to a One Day trip to Paris, she says yes, and they go together.

She just broke like a thousand rules while traveling!! And she knows it, but it’s part of being reckless, becoming the bold Lulu … which is the nickname Willem gives her, because he never asks for her real name.

So … by now you’re probably thinking you already know what’s going to happen, predictable plot and all that … well … you’re right. From the beginning you already know what’s going to happen, in this exact sequel:

I was hoping more fun … honestly …

”I’m driving by them now too. But somehow, it feels different. Like, being here, outside, on the back of this bike, with the wind on my hair and the sounds singing in my ears and the centuries-old cobblestones rattling beneath my butt, I’m not missing anything. On the contrary, I’m inhaling it, consuming it, becoming it.”

“We kiss again. This next kiss is the kind that breaks open the sky. It steals my breath and gives it back. It shows me that every other kiss I’ve had in my life has been wrong.”

“What do I actually know about him? Only a handful of facts … A drifter, really. Accidents are the defining force in his life… How could I have been so naïve? Fall in love? In a day? Everything from yesterday, it was all fake. All an illusion. As reality crystallizes into place, the shame and humiliation make me so sick, I feel dizzy.”

…….. Here comes the part that for most people was boring and kind of “meh” for what I’ve read in other reviews … the part where Allyson continues her journey of self discovery, and I say continues because she already started that day in Paris with Willem, she realizes she’s been living empty and she needs to find herself.

”I realize it’s not just Willem I’m looking for; it’s Lulu, too.”

“Maybe that’s the thing with liberation. It comes at a price. Forty years wandering through the desert (she’s talking about Jews). Or incurring in the wrath of two very pissed-off parents.”

So, even though this is a very predictable book … is WONDERFULLY PREDICTABLE!!! I loved Part I, and understood Part II (it felt … real) and enjoyed Part III …..

This might be a bit spoilerish

Have you ever watched this old anime from the 70’s called “Candy Candy”??? There is this one scene … where Candy goes looking for Terry at a theater play, and at the end he goes out the theater with the other actors, and she tries to reach him, and calls his name, but he never listen her voice, he goes away with a beautiful woman, and Candy stands there, with her hart broken …

”Candy, life is not a theatre play, where you can fake a feeling.”

So yes … Allison finds Willem on a play, by accident!!!

So … coming back to part III, it was great … I loved the clue chasing, and going from Paris to Netherlands to find him, still … girls if you ever go backpacking … don’t take Allyson’s risks and accepts invitations from strangers to go see the tulips in the outskirts of the city and at 5am … please!!! IT IS NOT SAFE!!! Yes, it can be beautiful but it also can be deadly!!! (paranoid much???)

Well … this book is beautifully written, I just love it, it wasn’t as emotional as If I Stay or Where She Went but … still … it has Gayle Forman all over it and … DAMN CLIFFHANGER ENDING!!!

Read it!!! NOW!!!! It’s like a roller coaster, you know there is a fall then a loop … so you already know the shape of the roller coaster, still … you get in and enjoy the ride … one thing is knowing how the roller coaster looks, other completely different thing is feeling it while taking the ride.

This is one of my fav quotes …

“And that’s when I understand that I have been stained. Whether I’m still in love with him, whether he was ever in love with me, and no matter who he’s in ove with now, Willem changed my life. He showed me how to get lost, and then I showed myself how to get found.

Maybe accident isn’t the right word after all. Maybe miracle is.

Or maybe it’s not a miracle. Maybe this is just life. When you open yourself up to it. When you put yourself in the path of it. When you say yes.”

Ohhh and all the Shakespeare plays … it was great!! I loved how Shakespeare was included …

Ahhh memories of backpacking!!!

This could have been a 5 star rating but I didn’t like the small misspelling of a word in spanish 😛 and the comment about the “Telemundo Frat Party” (They were in Cancún, what were they expecting? a UCLA frat party instead???).
