My Thoughts…

First of all ….. I like the german cover better

American:

German:

OK … having said that …

My rating is

3starstribal

This book was meant for 4-5 stars …

The world building was amazing, I loved the description of the artifacts, ships, machines, everything. The idea of the nanoagents was original … and … hell I like the concept … a lot… my mind was all the time imaging the scenery and ships …

The heroine, Mia, is strong, intelligent and down to earth … she was not running wipping and screaming at the hero, she respected herself, and when she thought Rhys was lost for her, instead of crying she just keep on living, no self pity, no depression.

The hero ……… this is the reason this book got 3.5 stars… allow me to quote:

“At that point, Rhys had to force his thoughts back to shagging her …..”

“Thoughts of the Terror and of shagging receded…”

(Terror is the name of the ship)

“The first opportunity he got, Rhys was going to shag her blind…”

Do I have to go on??? This guy, Rhys is a good looking totally hot pirate … I get it … but “shag” as you can see … was all that was on his mind … ok maybe not at all times … but most of the time …

With all that “shaggin” all I could think about was Austin Powers … Remember the first movie with Heather Graham as Felicity Shagwell???

In conclusion … yes … I read the next book Heart of Steel … just because Lady Corsair and Archimedes Fox were so funny and didn’t get along in The Iron Duke. Hearth of Steel was superior to the Iron Duke, I’ll post the 4 star review later.

The story is never boring, its full of adventure, evil machines, weird and ingenious artifacts, amazing ships, interesting characters and a good plot, for a romances, it is very good, my only problem was the Iron Duke :/

My Thoughts

This is a very light and cute read, I was looking for something relaxing and funny, and I found this book.

The story is typical romance, Jenna is betrayed by her fiance, Adam, and her best friend, Lacey, she goes back to her hometown since she just graduated from college, doesn’t have a job and used to live with Adam. She starts working construction with her father but Sutton, Lacey’s older brother and former Jenna’s crush, is also working with him, you can imaging from there how the story develops.

I’m glad Jenna got rid of Adam, he was an *sshole and she wasted too much time in him, I was surprised by Lacey behavior, she was supposed to be Jenna’s best friend since forever and her attitude and actions didn’t explain how or why they were BFF, there was a point I thought Jenna was a complete doormat…

Jenna and Sutton relationship is really relaxed and funny, they have their sexy moments and at the end they end up together (sorry for the spoiler but it’s pretty obvious, it’s that kind of book) nevertheless I felt that the book would benefit from an epilogue or two more chapters or something like that.

Overall it earns  3starstribal , it was sweet and fun but not memorable.

Side note: this cover I also similar to several books, I’m beginning to think we should do a post about it…

First Comes Love Series by Katie Kacvinsky

My Thoughts

So this series was amazing, refreshing and sometimes a little frustrating…  but I’m getting ahead of time, first let me set the background: the story centers in  Dylan and Gray, Dylan is a really carefree girl in love with freedom and adventures, Gray is a college student that used to be a baseball player (see the theme? as I said yesterday, I’ve a thing for baseball players) with some emotional issues.

The story is refreshing because it isn’t an instant-love story nor a hate turns into love kind of story, it’s a really spontaneous relationship that blossoms from complete strangers to friends and then to something more… In the first book you get to know the characters at the same pace that they get to know each other, and just like them, you start to fall in love with them. Dylan is great, super creative, optimistic and sometimes a little naive to the degree that you start thinking that she’s a little selfish, Gray is a little closed off and stuck on the past, totally understandable given his situation but still sometimes also a little frustrating, you just want to shake or slap them and made them see reason….

The story is so real that you don’t get a HEA, what is great is that it isn’t tragic like other books, it ‘s completely natural, logical, rational and understandable, it goes with the characters growth, desires and ambitions, they have and on and off kind of relationship according to their beliefs and particular situations, they support each other even though sometimes they’re disappointed or hurt, but they understand that it’s best for them.

This wonderful series gets 4starstribal

This is Falling (Falling #1) by Ginger Scott

My Thoughts

So after reading five consecutive books about murders I wanted to read something light, fluffy, kind of romantic, and maybe something that made me cry, I don’t know why but I love the books that made me cry, maybe because sometimes it’s really difficult for me to cry.. anyways one of the books that I read was This is Falling by Ginger Scott, and I really enjoyed it, I give it 4starstribal

At first I was attracted to this book because I’ve a thing about guys playing baseball and its really weird because I don’t watch the sport and I don’t really understand everything, I just know the basics (hit the ball and run the bases haha), so I picked up this story and I wasn’t disappointed.

Without giving too much spoilers, Rowe is about to enter college and has many issues, she suffered a really traumatic incident and was home schooled the last two years of high school, so she doesn’t have great social skills… then she meets Nate, a college baseball player, and everything unravels from there. Even though it some type of semi instant-love story it wan’t your typical story line, the characters were complex and funny. And even though I suspected and guessed what happened to Rowe really early (it was one of my many theories but I think that’s just me, I tend to be really dramatic and tragic, and sometimes I make up really complicated and gruesome scenarios) I don’t think that something to hold against the story, they tell you all the facts of the situation very far on the book and I think it keeps you on the edge.

The secondary characters (Nate’s older brother Ty and Rowe’s roommates Cass and Paige) are really entertaining and keep your interest, they add to the story. There’s going to be a second book about Nate and Cass and from the sneak peak I want to read it, there was a really surprising detail that I didn’t saw coming.

My favorite part was almost at the end of the book, where I fell in love with Nate (FYI I also have a thing for characters named Nate, and Lucas/Luke and Drew, maybe there are others I’ve to start an official list) there’s a letter from him to Rowe that’s so so sweet!!!  That it made me swoon and cry and hope that everything will be all right!
