“I want to break every part of you!” I exclaimed but gave up and collapsed on him. “I want you to break,” I whispered, my head on his chest, my eyes focused absently on an orange tree.
“You have,” he said softly, his hand stroking the back of my head. “I told you that you broke me when you left. And you did. I’m not lying to you.”
“You always lie.”
The Blurb …
Sometimes the right choice can be the deadliest.
When Ellie Watt made the ultimate sacrifice for Camden McQueen, she never thought it would be easy. But walking away with her ex-lover, Javier Bernal, in order to ensure Camden’s safety has brought a whole new set of dangers. With Javier’s plans for Ellie growing more secretive by the moment, Ellie must find a way to stay ahead of the game before her past swallows her whole.
Meanwhile, Camden’s new life is short-lived. Fueled by revenge and pursued by authorities, he teams up with an unlikely partner in order to save Ellie. But as Camden toes the line between love and retribution, he realizes that in order to get back the woman he loves, he may have to lose himself in the process. He might just turn into the very man he’s hunting.
Told in dual POV from Camden and Ellie.
So … the book starts where Sins & Needles ended. Javier has Ellie, and Camden has his son, ex-wife and a briefcase full of money.
But not everything is as it seems, and after some betrayal, blackmailing and heart-to-heat chats: Javier takes Ellie to Veracruz, Mexico AND Camden is decided to get her back!!!
The book is a
Prepare yourself for some brutal scenes, for very smexy times, gut-wrenching moments and
Something I really really love about this book is the character’s evolution. Javier is not the same guy we met in On Every Street, and Camden has definately changed, he turned dark to find Ellie (I think I like him more).
Ohh Javier, you were everything I expected you to be … a f*cking b@stard sleazy sluttish snake sonovabitch hehe ….
I mean, he’s a murderer after all … he’s a druglord capable of the most despicable things, and he will steal your heart in this book. Be prepared: You will be Team Javier for, at least, a few pages.
Javier wasn’t looking for Ellie all these years, he found her when he wanted/needed, and now he has big plans for her … he needs her to kill Travis.
But Javier has secrets and I think he will surprise us in the next book, maybe he has fooled us all and he sacará el cobre in the next book… he will show his cards, his true colors, the real Javier.
I love not knowing what Javier will do, how he will react, his true intentions 😉
He wasn’t my fav in Sins & Needles, but he won me over in Shooting Scars. The guy gets screwed over again … and again … he needs a break!!!
There is something about him in this book, I guess it’s the way he embraces his darkness in order to get Ellie back, I like how loyal he is to her.
”I was going to find her, wherever she was, because I was hers. She had all of me, always had.”
Ohhhhhh he’s a great surprise, he has secrets too … you’ll have to read the book to find out.
Plot, setting and everything else!
Ohh, not predictable, not at all!!!
You’ll see some things coming, but most of them … well … not.
The mexican setting was well described, the author did a good research.
I’m mexican so … about the violence and drug carters I’d rather say nothing about it … things were pretty bad two years ago … but I’m happy living in Monterrey 🙂
Shooting scars is the perfect sequel to Sins & Needles, the end will leave you carving for more …..
I can’t wait for Bold Tricks!!!
