Nineteen-year-old Cheyenne tries to portray the perfect life to mask the memories of her past. Walking in on her boyfriend with another woman her freshman year in college threatens that picture of perfection.
Twenty-one-year-old Colt never wanted college and never expected to amount to anything, but when his mom’s dying wish is for him to get his degree, he has no choice but to pretend it’s what he wants too.
Cheyenne needs a fake boyfriend to get back at her ex and Colt needs cash to take care of his mom, so they strike a deal that helps them both. But what if Cheyenne’s past isn’t what she thought? Soon they’re trading one charade for another—losing themselves in each other to forget about their pain. The more they play their game, the more it becomes the only thing they have that feels real.
Both Cheyenne and Colt know life is never easy, but neither of them expect the tragedy that threatens to end their charade and rip them apart forever.
I had some trouble sleeping the other day, I woke up at 2am and by 3am I gave up in trying to sleep, again. So I took my kindle, my lantern, and browsed Amazon Kindle Shop, found this book, give it a try and … I couldn’t put it down!!!!
The thing is … that after a breakup, when you see the ex with a new girl … let’s face it girls, we have at least one of the following reactions:
*Note: This reactions apply only when you don’t already have a nice hot new replacement.
A) You want to rip his balls off, chop them and feed them to him (even more if he cheated on you).
B) You pretend nothing happened and continue as cool as an ice cube … but secretly melting inside because he has someone else and you don’t.
C) You smile, an evil mocking smile because you pity the other girl that now has to deal with your leftovers. You’re better off alone and you’re asking to yourself “What the hell was I thinking!!!???”
D) You make a plan to show him you don’t care he’s banging the other girl, so you hire a fake hot boyfriend to make him jealous, not because you want your ex back, but because you have to prove him and the world you have moved on.
Cheyenne found his ex, in bed, naked with a gorgeous red head, and what did the jerk said??
“It’s not what it looks like”
“I’m a guy, Chey…”
WTF!!!??? I swear some people were born without brains … and those persons inspired these characters …
Guess what Cheyenne, the MC did???? The right answer is D!!!
At the coffeeshop she ran into her ex and new gf … again … but she saw a hot tattooed guy having a fight with the ex, so she had the idea to hire the hot tattooed guy, Colton, to pretend to be her boyfriend.
The fake boyfriend hire was not easy, there was some drama involved, Colton needed to money to keep taking care of his dying mother (cancer), Cheyenne was fighting her own demons and one thing led to another … Colt and Cheyenne became close and eventually fall in love.
Simple cute story … right???
Although the plot was highly predictable, there were some nice twists to the story and kept things very entertaining.
Their relationship seemed very codependent at the beginning, they were clearly using each other to forget all the crap in their lives, but you get to see the little things that changed the relationship from a charade, into real love. They were there for each other in the most important moments, and that’s what counts … that’s what bonded them together.
The book is a great light reading, entertaining, with a couple of nice hot scenes.
If you like NA with a bit of drama (not the slash your wrists kind of drama) then read this one.
Ohh and I have to mention ….. after reading this … the first thing I did in the morning was calling my parents. I’m taking them to the movies today.
So … girls … what would you have done??? A, B, C or D?
